The Nuclear Industry in South Australia:
The Student Guide
The 12 page NuclearSA Students Guide is designed for middle level primary and secondary school students and is a response to the lack of balance in material being distributed by the nuclear industry.
The Guide is written from an environmental perspective, and is done in such a way as to address deficiencies in material from the nuclear industry. These deficiencies are of three types:
- Absence of material on certain aspects of the nuclear industry.
- Uneven treatment of certain aspects of the nuclear industry.
- Lack of counter arguments on contentious issues.
The NuclearSA Students Guide does not attempt to repeat material provided by the nuclear industry but aims to address the above deficiencies. Students will therefore have available to them a more complete range of information on the pros and cons of the nuclear industry.
The NuclearSA Students Guide attempts to focus on issues affecting SA and is put together in such a way as to make it easy for students to reference it against the nuclear industry material.
The Students Guide has sections on:
- The nuclear fuel chain.
- The nuclear waste cycle.
- Uranium and nuclear weapons.
